This quadrangular brooch is portrayed after the brooch depicted on the statue of a knight in the cathedral of Bamberg in Germany. The statue dates to ca. 1230 CE, brooches like the this were used through large parts of Europe to fasten the neckline of tunics and other medieval garments by men and women alike. The Diamond shaped brooch Bamberg measures 5.5 x 5.5 cm and is available in a pure bronze and a silver-plated version.
